#2 of 263 in Things to do in Perth
Located on Mount Eliza and overlooking Perth Water, State War Memorial houses the Cenotaph, a well-known city landmark. Erected in honor of all Australian soldiers whose remains are buried elsewhere, the Cenotaph represents an "empty tomb." Anzac Day is a national holiday observed in April to honor Australians and New Zealanders who served in the military and died in wars and peacekeeping operations. On Anzac Day, a service is held at the memorial that attracts over 40,000 visitors. At this site, you can also visit the flame of remembrance and a pool of reflection, inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. • This war memorial is very well kept and maintained. The statues here are wonderful. I particularly liked the statue of a war widow with her two children., It brought tears to my eyes.  more »
  • We have been to many war memorials in our travel, this place is one of the best. The eternal flame with the background of Perth is a place for solemn remembrance.  more »

  • Nice park to go and relax with your family and loved ones. Can be considered a picnic spot, a part venue or just a park to stroll around in. Park provides some of the most amazing views of city and swan river. Very well maintained and clean.
  • A great setting for a walk. Attended a corporate function at Fraser's and ended up taking it outside towards the end of the afternoon. Took a walk to the Memorial and it was beautiful, the eternal flame is a sight to see and the overall set up was very relaxing and impact.
  • I visit the war memorial in every place I visit, and this one is arguably the nicest most respectful one out there. Very well set out in the beautiful Kings Park. With panoramic views over the Swan river, City of Perth and South Perth.
  • Probably one of my favorite places in WA. Kings park is absolutely beautiful no matter what time of day and there’s always a sense of peace every time i drop by to visit with the intent to clear my mind. It’s also a great spot to catch a glimpse and appreciate the entire city line.
  • Great view, important historical site. Too easy to visit without respecting it's significance.
