St. Mary's Cathedral melds the church's historic walls with modern architecture, intensifying its charm. The facade near the Royal Perth Hospital has the more modern look. Some of the new design elements are the striking glass backdrop, the lighted glass panels behind the altar, and the steel beams supporting the balcony. The gardens and views surrounding the cathedral are perfect for a quiet picnic. • For a Westerner, unaccustomed to this kind of construction "dated", being "only" a cathedral of 1800 is perplexing but so is the story. ... The immaculate conception is very nice (I think Gothic) streamlined and updated. Certainly don't find that air "solemn" Italian or European cathedrals in General.

  • St Mary's Cathedral is just a few minutes walk from Iver station. From the outside I'm already mesmerized by the tall structure and the beautiful flowers blooming along the fence. They have a weekly free tour inside the cathedral so better check the schedule. I will be back and will visit it at night. A must visit when in Perth even for non-believers.
  • Truly beautiful building utterly destroyed by the modern glass and concrete extensions. It couldn't have looked any worse if they'd added a uPVC conservatory. Hideous modernisation, the architect should hang their head in shame, as should the bishop who accepted it.
  • Beuty chruh amazing...never see in malaysia
  • This is a very big and beautiful church. It is one of the proudness of Perth. Hopefully, someday in the future , along with my family I will come to this church
  • Beautiful architecture with a blend of the modern and old. The renovations have allowed an abundance of light into the Cathedral creating a bright, open airy space for worship combined with traditional reverent architecture. This is a rare combination that works wonderfully at St Mary's. Sound quality, unfortunately however is poor, and you will need to listen carefully to the speakers. Background noise reverberates throughout cathedral.
