Perth Town Hall, Perth

#51 of 204 in Things to do in Perth
A quaint and ornate red-brick building dominated by an intricately designed, looming bell tower, Perth Town Hall boasts the unusual "honor" of being the only convict-built town hall in Australia. Completed in 1870, the building was constructed in the Victorian Free Gothic style, and includes a number of motifs in the shape of broad arrows and hangman’s ropes. • The Perth Town hall is good as you can go inside. It also has history on the steps and under the balcony on the ground floor. Well worth going with a free walking tour group as then you'll get more of...  more »
  • The City Hall is quite central, rising to Barrack St. from the Bell Tower. The building is beautiful and looks good on the corner of Hay Street which has a promenade for shopping.

  • Very nice old building, but quickly disappears in many high new-build. Is there a little isolated, yet the trouble for some pictures.

  • Able to have functions here, but the ventilation is not too great, so with a lot of people in summer it can get quite hot. Nice building though.
  • Beautiful town in Perth with fantastic Japanese ramen around. One of the nicest place to visit in Perth.
  • Nice venue, the remodeling job has made the venue much better.
  • an old and pretty big brick building which still looks great amongst the modern architecture around it. its quite a sight too in the late evenings. i tune my watches to follow its clock.
  • Nice town hall with clock tower

Where to stay in Perth

When you choose your Perth accommodations, remember that this city stretches over a wide area, which can cause issues for visitors with limited time to sightsee. The best way to remain close to urban transportation is to stay in the central business district or neighboring Northbridge, where you'll also find the greatest selection of hotels. To avoid the center's big crowds and steep hotel prices, consider booking a room in the coastal town of Mandurah, easily accessible by Perth's reliable suburban railway system.
