  • Got to know about the Gordon Dam via posts on Instagram; we didn't feel like it was heavily spoke about in the "standard" tourist recommendations. It was a long drive into the Dam via the Gordon River...  more »

  • This place is amazing, creepy and sad at the same time. When you see the value of nature, and think about how the system of dams changed all the ecosystem around this region (and the whole island), places like the Gordon River can make you understand the power of man and bad/controversial decision making. The history of this place makes you value even more the Franklin River efforts and heritage.
  • Mind blowing acrhitecture. Absailing from this dam is one of the craziest thing I have ever done. Its so amazing. The view is mesmerizing.
  • Well worth the drive from Hobart. Most amazing engineering feat and beautiful scenery all around it. You can climb down 185 steps to experience walking along the dam wall itself too.
  • Must do!! Worth the 3hrs drive out of our way. Amazing view. Could have spent hours here.
  • Located in a beautiful area, amazing engineering, a definite place to visit in Tasmania
