  • I love Victoria's extinct volcanoes and Mt Rouse is an interesting complex volcano. Lookout has stunning views over the plains. Picnic area is fine and you can drive from there to the lookout...

  • Not much to say about Mount Rouse in the Victorian Western District. At the foothills there is an historic blue-stone home 'Kolor' where Dame Nellie Melba used to stay and play tennis. It's a beautiful home that forms an enduring part of Victoria's history. The passage ways are said to align in a north-south and east-west direction aligned so that they point to other extinct volcanoes in the area. It includes a dancing ballroom with a suspended floor that has a small amount of bounce to it specifically designed for hosting formal balls back in the day.
  • Nice views of Penshurst and surrounding plains
