Wolf Blass is an Australian winery based in Nuriootpa, South Australia within the Barossa Valley wine region.OverviewIt was established in 1966 by Wolfgang Blass, a German immigrant who arrived in Australia in 1961 with little money but with a diploma in winemaking. One of his first jobs was with Tolley, Scott and Tolley as a winemaker. Wolf Blass Wines Ltd was purchased by Mildara in 1991, to form Mildara Blass, and was itself bought by Fosters Brewing six years later, which then acquired the Rothbury Group in 1998.When winemaker Wolfgang Blass started producing his style of red and white wines he claimed they would "make strong women weak and weak men strong", Other contentions by Blass include that "parasitic and idiotic funding systems for overseas promotion mean that overproduced wine from Australian irrigated fruit will hit rock bottom, facing competition from South Africa", and "Barossa should focus on what it does best: full-bodied Shiraz". He has also stated that "No table wine over 15% alcohol by volumealcohol by volume] should ever get any medal, anywhere in the world, ever."

The wine and lunch were not bad, but the services were bad. One of main staff was very rude and inhospitable. So I had a blast of joy.  more »

In Europe, Blass is known for cheap low quality wine (red, yellow & gold labels). I didn't realise they had such a good cellar door. I have recently enjoyed their range of grey label wines - a bit exp...  more »

  • Well built and maintained.. Maybe too 'mainstream' but worth a visit...
  • ""Wolf Blass Visitor Centre"" This cellar door is huge. Pre bookings required to make your own blend ""BLEND IT LIKE BLASS"" Barossa Taxis often stops here on one our wine tours. Highly recommended.
  • Barossa & Light Cab Service, Barossa's only 100% locally owned and operated cab servive, love bringing people to the Wolf Blass Visitor Centre either to visit the cellar door, or for a function, the venue can cater to very large groups/events. The name "Wolf Blass" is one of the Barossa Valley's most noticed wine labels in the region. This spot is highly recommended by us when we are on wine tours, or just transporting our customers.
  • Great designs and place, one of the biggest winery in Barossa
  • Wonderful place to visit. Very nice set up and you will love if youblike wine...
