Kaesler Wines and Vineyard
Kaesler Wines is bona fide Barossa Valley experience.Make Kaesler Wines and Vineyard part of your personalized Nuriootpa itinerary using our Nuriootpa trip site.
The Kaesler vineyards were established in 1893 by the Kaesler family who came to the Barossa Valley in the 1840's and who took up the 60-acre allotment in 1891. They planted the entire holding with Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro (Mourvedre), Riesling and Semillon. Generations of the Kaesler family worked the farm until 1986 when it was sold and left the Kaesler family.
Following a world wide search for a property to produce the best possible grapes for red wine, winemaker Reid Bosward and his co-owners, a group of international wine lovers, searched areas such as USA, France, New Zealand and other parts of Australia before deciding to buy in the Barossa Valley.
Today Reid and his partners are the third owners of the Kaesler vineyard and the original buildings. in 2001 they acquired the neighbouring vineyard, 28.5 acres to complete the original vineyard holding established by the Kaesler Family. This included the original 3.7 acres of 1893 Shiraz.
OUR WINES
Now having access to premium old vine material, Reid set out to produce bold estate wines representative of the Barossa Valley. The intensity of the old vine Shiraz inspired Reid to produce a special premium batch, the “Old Bastard.” Classified as “Outstanding” by Langtons with its rich and intense fruit style, the Old Bastard Shiraz paved the way for Kaesler. A string of highly celebrated wines followed suit, the generous Stonehorse range and premium Old Vine Shiraz, “The Bogan” and Alte Reben wines to name a few.
A 5 star James Halliday rated winery, Reid and winemaker Stephen Dew, with their distinct style and modest winemaking techniques, consistently produce wines rated over 90 points by industry peers and publications.
Adding to our growing family, Reid and his partners acquired vineyards in the prominent wine regions of the Clare Valley and McLaren Vale, establishing the Clare Wine Co. and Nashwauk brands.
Applying the same winemaking techniques and philosophies as their Barossa Valley wines, they created a signature style that emanates across the all their regional brands.

Had and awesome afternoon enjoying a selection of white and red wines. The staff were friendly and the wine was great with the staff really knowing what they are talking about with their wine. The grounds and the venue are amazing to walk around and are very well presented. The wine here has some really good names perfect for gifts like "The Bogan" and "Old Bastard". A lot better than some close by Large scale wineries! A must stop and taste. 👍
