Thunderbird Park offers numerous exciting nature adventures and contains the world’s largest deposit of gemstone-filled thundereggs, nodule-like rocks formed during the age of dinosaurs. Explore the park’s wildlife-rich environment and look for thundereggs at your leisure, or choose a variety of mountain activities designed to be enjoyed by adrenaline seekers of all ages. Try cable ladder climbing, balancing on rope bridges, crawling through forest tunnels, or jumping off suspended tree trunks. Visitors looking for less strenuous activities can enjoy bush walking, horse riding, swimming, and birdwatching. A family-friendly mini golf course is also located on the park’s premises. • I loved this experience. It was one of the highlights of our stay! The staff were terrific and encouraging. My grandaughter is 10 and she enjoyed herself so much. As a granny...I can highly recommend ...  read more »
  • We called ahead to book and went from the park map to book a suitable site. Was told the map was wrong and the site would not be big enough for our tent. Went on the suggestion of the staff member to ...  read more »
  • This was recommended by a friend and it was money well spent (good value). We spent 3.5 hours working through the safety video, instructions and the courses (right up to black course). It gave me a ch...  read more »
  • This place is an activity park. The high ropes courses up in the trees are awesome and I recommend everyone give them a go. A great safety system in place! I would suggest camping is not their main focus and there are plenty of other great places to go camping. If you're after the adventures that these guys provide, you'll love it.
  • This place does not deserve even 1 star. 12th August 2016. Called 2 hours ahead to make sure a suitable 1 night unpowered site was available for our motorhome, with details of the vehicle supplied to the staff member, who said be sure to arrive before 7pm as no staff available after then. Climbing the narrow winding road, around 6.30pm, in the dark, from Brisbane we spotted a sign showing Cedar Falls to the left and one above pointing straight ahead for Thunderbird Park, so we continued another 15kms, passing the village at the top of the mountain and beyond, without finding the park. With minimal phone coverage, and approaching 7pm, we called the Park for location, to be told that the sign was "a bit confusing" but that is where we should have turned! Returned, turned in followed dark road to end, no park, or turning bay! Very difficult turn around and back to main road to find entrance to the park on the left only visible when approaching from that direction, NO lighting or signage. Not at all happy by this stage.Knowing that we would be arriving after dark, surely we could have been told these details in the 1st call! At reception, paid $28 and given map for 2 suitable sites to find in unlit area. Drove up the rough access road to 2 grassed tent sites on very sloping ground, totally unsuitable for anyone to sleep on, tent or vehicle. Back onto road and drove around to find another more suitable site, found several LESS sloping blocks so back to reception to complain. Were offered refund if we liked but no apology. Staff member had never been around the park to know what conditions were like!! Questionable training? Didn't know that the sites we asked about even were vacant, were told to "choose what you like", so used the best we could find. No camp kitchen, 250 metres to amenities block over rough track in the dark. Wife has 2 new knee joints and not happy at all with the trek as the closer block required a key that wasn't available to us. Now after 8pm, so made a light meal on sloping table and went to bed. Doona kept sliding down the bed because of the slope, a new experience! Been to Dachau Concentration camp in Germany, even the inmates there got a level bed! Morning shower, as soon as the token in slot for 4 minute shower, hot water is on, full, cannot turn off, so quick undress and 2 min shower, no curtain, so trying to dry yourself with hot still pouring out, wasting water, in what is claimed to be an Eco friendly park. After 55 years of camping all over Australia, starting as a child, this is the standout worst joke I've ever experienced. Could not wait to depart from this place. I rarely can be bothered to complain, just get on with life, so you have been warned!!! Stayed at Goondiwindi the next night, same price, great facilities, camp kitchen and flat ground.
  • Don't come here for Telstra reception. But thats the whole idea, right? Good staff, food choices, things for kids to do (young and old)
  • Excellent horse riding experience with me and my partner! Would definitely come back and recommend (: lovely staff too! x
  • My husband and I decided to take and adventure day out and suited up for the treetop adventure course. We loved it even though I HATE heights. Unfortunately I did not plan my day well and did a HUGE gym session prior, so I didn't finish the course as my arms completely lost all power lol The staff were friendly and helpful. I'm sure the food at the cafe was lovely but I was so hungry by the time we finished that I forgot to chew (kidding!... it was good!) We will be back to finish to more advanced sections of the course one day and also hit the zip lines :)
