Mount Pitt, Norfolk Island

(4.9/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Hike up to Mount Pitt for a full view of Norfolk Island from high above the fog and clouds. These cliffs and steep slopes, situated inside the Norfolk Island National Park, support a thriving community of native shrubs, herbaceous plants, and climbers, and preserve a few precious tracts of nearly extinct indigenous seashore vegetation. At 320 meters (990 ft), this peak is the second highest point on the island. At this location you can also join the popular "Summit Walk" to Mount Bates, the highest peak on Norfolk, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and don’t forget your camera. • you can see the airport and many spots around the island where you have already been hopefully.best to get a ride unless you are an avid uphill walker.
  • We stopped off at the Sunday Markets, bought a couple of small egg & bacon pies (quiche for all you trendies), and drove up to Mount Pitt (less than 10 mins drive). Set ourselves up at a picnic table,...  more »
  • As with most of Norfolk Island, the scenery is amazing. While you're there go for a walk along the ridge, a nice walk with a bit of WW2 history thrown in.
