  • Visited the big pineapple after a many........years not having been there. I was disappointed when I 1st saw how it had declined. But to my surprise it was fun and interesting to go on steam train thr...  read more »
  • We visited in september , well past its prime as a major attraction, car park was nearly empty when we arrived, and little market out the front was packing up for the day. We walked into the main buil...  read more »
  • I'm glad we went, but it was a little lacking I think. We went on a Saturday, and was good to have the market there. We caught The Pineapple express train, which I thought was going to tell us about g...  read more »
  • Sorry to say bit this icon is pretty run down a 21st century touch - especially on the inside. This great icon is very nice to look at from the outside. Inside is a much different story.
  • Absolutely awful. To the (bleached) blonde lady and her Simon Cowell lookalike colleague who were both 'working' in the cafe, my wife and I can read lips and saw the awful things you were both saying about our 2year old toddler who was throwing a tantrum. Yes he was loud but he was hot and hungry. Do you have children? Do you remember what it was like? Do you have any human compassion left at all? We were going to stop at the dismal looking cafe but you lost our business with your horrible attitude. The Big Pineapple what can we say - won't be returning. Only the tiny cafe and train ride through a dried up old field remain, along with the old mouldy shell of the original Pineapple itself (which was the only thing our son got excited about if only for 2 minutes). To the 3 old grey nomads in their perfectly bleached white cotton trousers who sat outside the said dismal cafe and, along with the 2 staff, tut tutted and frowned upon our 2 year old chucking a tanty, we were totally disappointed in you also. We had a laugh at the hypocrisy of the place as outside there was a shirt for remembering Daniel Morcombe and having compassion and empathy and protecting children. How disgraceful that the 5 adults we saw at the Big Pineapple today did not show any such redeeming qualities. Advice for tourists - give this place a miss and head out instead to the Ginger Factory in Yandina. Train ride and activities for kids, honey and bee tours, ginger tour and wonderful ginger produce, lovely set up with some gorgeous speciality shops and delicious cafe all surrounded by lush tropical plants. Most importantly, staff that genuinely care and make you feel welcome. Nut factory and coffee place just across the road.
  • Went back for a bit of nostalgia after last going as children in the 90s. Very disappointing and tired. Perhaps better on a busier day but otherwise not worth going out of your way for. Signs up saying under new management... Hopefully they manage to revitalise the attraction.
  • Part of Queensland's heritage. Past its heyday but great memories for so many. A necessary photograph stop. You can walk up inside of the pineapple with a viewing desk at the base of the crown.
  • I went back for a third visit with a bit of disappointment. It was quiet. There were less tourists.
