Beach Nature / Park
At Mission Beach, you will find 14 km (8.6 miles) of white sandy beach dotted with coconut palms. Surrounded by World Heritage tropical rainforest on one side and the Great Barrier Reef on the other, the beach has Australia’s highest density of cassowaries roaming the rainforest. These large birds are easy to spot, because Cyclone Yas stripped bare much of the rainforest. Close to the beach is Clump Point, a popular fishing spot. There are walking trailsthat give you access to the Great Barrier Reef. Home to Djiru people Mission Beach is also culturally significant. Close to the beach, you can visit a memorial that provides insight into the Aboriginal history of the area Arrange to visit Mission Beach and other attractions in Mission Beach using our Mission Beach itinerary maker.
