The State Library of Victoria is beautiful. You can take very instagram able pictures. There are also a couple of free exhibitions that are great, too. They tell you more about Australia’s history.  more »

While there were people outside the library with the great chess, very large, still Japan library and is totally different. To go abroad for the first time in, let alone overseas library that was very shocking. "This is a library! It's not a Museum? "It is like.

The age of the building and its magnificent architecture amazed me. How did the builders manage to create such wonderful big sandstone buildings and today with all our technology everything is quick a...  more »

A historical monument that bears great significance to the heritage of Melbourne. It has been since carefully maintained so that we today can still see its full glory when it was first built. Overall it is an excellent area to study to study alone if you move away from the noisy ground floor. I would advise groups to stay on ground floor to avoid disturbing others.

Beautiful building with great facilities inside. It has great free exhibition as part of the community program. The special books exhibition was simply amazing. At times it can get crowded and noisy but most of the times it is quite good and conducive to learning and studying. Well worth a visit if in Melbourne

Beautiful library, lovely staff, amazing architecture, however sadly on the weekends this library turns into a tourist attraction which is extremely distracting. I suggest avoiding the library on the weekends, unless u enjoy the sound of screaming children and their moms running after them. I do hope the library at least limits the tourist visitors in the quite sections. No one can study when at least 20 people are passing by every 5 minutes. yes I have counted lol

A beautiful quiet space to escape the hubbub of the city. See the La Trobe Reading Room, it's a beautiful space with a glass dome, but chairs in the Redmond Barry are more comfortable. Also free wifi!

It's suppose to be a peaceful place for people to learn and study here. But NOPE, let's take a selfie and pretend that you know alot about arts to impress your SO. 10/10 will impress my SO again.

Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.
