O'Brien Group Arena, Melbourne

3.7
Skate away to disco music at O'Brien Group Arena, a large ice sports and entertainment venue. Centrally located in the heart of the Docklands, the complex has two Olympic-sized ice rinks. Never skated? Not to worry, as you can take part in a free 15-minute lesson. Watch the Australian Ice Hockey League games or go for The Avalanche ice tubing thrill ride. A fancy St Moritz Bar is on site. Arrange to visit O'Brien Group Arena and other attractions in Melbourne using our Melbourne day trip planning tool .

  • Visited last night. Nice atmosphere and friendly staffs. My friend don't want to skate so she bought a ticket for the basic access which costed $4 with a drink voucher. Cafe inside closed at 9pm and the bar on the second floor didn't open on Friday.
  • Haven't been to the skating rink but been to the Ice Hockey stadium and it has a great atmosphere and there isn't a bad seat in the place. Even the upper level seats have a great view of the game.
  • I feel lucky to have access to such a world class venue! Separate general session and sports rinks. Perfect setup. Just a shame about the pricy parking.
  • We went as a group to play Curling, which turned out to be an amazing game. Kevin our teacher was great, he is very knowledgeable about Curling and taught us all the ins and outs of the game. Bar upstairs is really good to have a drink and watch the 2 ice rings, which had Curling on one side and ice hockey on the other.
  • Amazing place to spend time with friends. Thought we'd only be there for a few hours, but was there for a solid 6! Great for all skill levels

Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.
