#1 of 309 in Museums in Victoria
Visit what is perhaps Australia's most hallowed sporting ground, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 100,000-capacity venue plays host to matches of the city's cricket club and was the site of the 1992 Cricket World Cup final and the 1956 Olympic Games. Massive music concerts attract noncricket fans. Join one of numerous daily tours and then visit the National Sports Museum, home to Australian sports memorabilia. Of course, for a truly memorable experience, attend a match among the cricket-mad faithful. • Always a great day out at the footy. Security is usually pretty good, and the lines move fairly quickly to get in. Food and drinks are a little over priced. There is no reason to charge above retail prices, just because of corporate greed... Footy is an institution in Australia, for good reason. It brings community together, and things like bring your kids for free day is also a great way for people to take they're kids out for a great day. Unfortunately, like going to the Cinema, they get you on the cost of food...
  • What an amazing and historical property. Could have stayed an entire day.The museum is mind blowing and has something for everyone. Absolutely fabulous. The volunteers who do the tours are so knowledgeable. The inter active sports are great. All in all a fantastic day out for adults and children.
  • Today I took my family with a pram to the Dees vs Cats game and we were treated really well by the customer service team outside the gates. They understood how much of a hassle it can be with manoeuvring a pram and tagging along other kids. They helped us get in with ease and the team in the basement took care of our pram and made us feel very much at ease. All the staff did a great job and so friendly! Shout out to Tasha in particular for helping us right from the start. Needless to say we had a great time!
  • There's just no better place to be. Great spots for food (both fine dining and fast food), a plethora of bars and some of the best jam donuts you'll ever have. The atmosphere in the stadium during a big game is better than any other sporting event I've attended. The history of the ground is also worth a look. Some nice spots to kick the footy outside too!
  • Nice place to visit for cricket buffs. They offer free tour of the cricket ground given by cricket buffs. The tour is very detailed filled with lots of interesting facts and stories. It’s a good place to visit even for those who don’t know much about cricket but like to explore places with great history. They also have a nice shop there for souvenirs.
