  • If you have 10 minutes to spare pop in and take a look around. Nick will insist on giving you a quick tour, and he's a charming chap. Just go with the flow! We found it really interesting, though when...  more »
  • I've been to this place considering entering into a jewelry store. Instead I had to attend a lesson in gemology! Nick, the owner, has kept us personally to explain the features of the opals, varieties, life in the mines, the fauna of the outback. I appreciated that there was that sense of "you came in and now buy" that you see in many other jewellers (Italian and foreign). The staff, especially Natalia, is friendly and accommodating.

  • Nick has mined Opal in the last 50 years and explains all about opals today its customers. He also showed us his snakes and spider collection. The visit was a highlight of our trip to Australia. You can here raw stones with Opal for 10-$60 to buy or buy ready ground and also restricted opals. Just great.

  • Friendly and down to earth with great prices. Awesome experience! Gone back three times and will go back several more.
  • I didn't buy anything and was cheeky and cheap, yet the girl there was very helpful! She gave us information on Opals and showed us how the store layout is set with regards to price!
  • Made a trip to Melbourne on my way back to the States from Sydney expressly to visit. So glad I did, and I'll be back for more!
  • absolutely amazing! Leila (hope is correct) was so competent and professional and she told us everything about the opals. Also they have a very huge range of opals. And most important thing: they don't force you to buy anything. Truly appreciated :)
  • Absolutely fantastic service! Both members of staff were absolute experts in their work and so helpful during our visit. This included showing us how the opals are made, teaching us about the different types of opals and assisting us in finding the perfect opal. Lightning Ridge Opal Mines on Flinders is not just an opal shop, it is an opal experience :)
