Hosier Lane, Melbourne

4.3
Mosey down Hosier Lane to see some of Australia's finest street art. Graffiti falls short as a term for describing most of the graphics adorning the building walls. The artists intend for their elaborate works to provoke thought the same way art in more traditional media does. Like many formal art galleries and museums, the works along the street constantly change as artists create new pieces. After viewing the street gallery, pop into one of the nearby upscale cocktail lounges for a refreshment. • Definitely one of the popular go-to places to check out the street art when in Melbourne. Lots of people always stopping by to take photos here. The art definitely makes for a great backdrop, and there's always something new as the art changes regularly.
  • In my opinion one of the best places to see street art . Highly recommended even if you're not that much interested into this kind if art as it's a part of the Melbourne culture.
  • If you like modern art, you will like it. Otherwise it is only a narrow back lane between building. Lane is dirty, Council needs a good clean
  • Fantastic street art, regularly updated, make sure you take a picture!!
  • Nice unusual little tourist attraction, ET was a highlight and so was the multi coloured hair girl.

Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.
