Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.

  • Hardware Lane has become a Melbourne landmark as it is on the Melbourne version of Monopoly, the board game. Small and quirky venues, it is worth a visit if not just to walk through.  more »

  • This place is gorgeously French. Beautiful crepes, lovely service. Will definitely come back when I need my France fix.
  • 'Arrogantly French'. This tagline attracted me to the place, and I wasn't disappointed. The food was prepared and served in the French way and tasted sublime. Unlike France, the staff were very friendly and all spoke French to one another in a cheery and upbeat way. C'était un petit gouter de France, avec tout la charmant et perfection que vous pouvez demander.
  • Two words: La Biquette Utterly fabulous food, and a great way to take the rust off of your French!
  • Food, hot chocolate and chai latte all Brilliant - we had a mix or sweet and savoury. Went back a second time and even better - coffee was great when ordered 3/4 full double shot
  • Great food. Good value. Awesome service
