Harbour Town Melbourne is the city’s modern factory outlet mall, sprawling over 41,000 square meters (441,000 sq ft) in the Waterfront City precinct. This shopping center, situated underneath the Melbourne Star Ferris wheel, features over 200 stores. Melbourne is known as the fashion capital of Australia, and at this mall you can purchase branded merchandise at much cheaper prices than anywhere else in town. • Awesome place to visit with a family. Lots of things to do with children. There was a little fair that the kids could explore. Harbour Town is well planned and shops are easy to find. Very well presen...  more »
  • Such a shame that this place isn't finished. If you can don't bother until it it. Half of it is under construction, very noisy and all the usual building inconvenience. We had a coffee while we sat an...  more »
  • I was last here about 5 years ago when the place was buzzing with all the shops open and plenty of people. Now it’s just a place with (I think) over 50% closed shops. The photo below is typical of man...  more »

  • Nice range of retail outlets, however it would be much better if there were more big brand stores. It's often very quite here and not busy like other shopping precincts, which is a pleasant change. There's also some nice little places to eat. Harbour town is also in the process of building extensions and will soon house a Hoyts Cinema among some other welcomed additions!
  • A lot to do but also a lot of construction going on. Good to have a look around, plenty of places to eat, & shopping area getting bigger & better. Rides for kids, & also the Melbourne Observation Wheel for everyone. Good fin, well worth a visit.
  • Will be better once construction is finished. But workmen had blocked off the only baby friendly Walk way
  • Visited Harbour Town to see the Melbourne Star. From what I could see a few decent outlets for shopping, but there still seems to be a lot of construction happening 🤔and empty shops. There is a 'theme park' with Rides, Jumpy Castles, Side shows to keep young children entertained while grown ups can shop 😉
  • Good stores. Too many to look around. Right next to the giant wheel. Still I would recommend to check Costco docklands next door before you buy something here. I found Costco much cheaper.

Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.
