As "cat tragics" we visited the Cat Café today with some trepidation about how the cats would cope being on "display" and must say I was pleasantly surprised at how much the cats' welfare is at the fo...  more »

It was $12 for an hour with the cats. There are two rooms, a downstairs lounge area and the cafe upstairs and the cats have the run of both. I didn't have any food but the girls said that their drinks...  more »

Definitely a must see for cat lovers. We were welcomed by staff who clearly enjoyed their job. I wouldn't say it was a warm welcome, but I didn't feel put out. I assume the staff member was trying to stress the importance of following the rules, and making sure you weren't a jerk to the cats. The room downstairs was vacant when we went in, only one cat having a snooze, but upstairs was great. The cats were fairly active, some wanted pats, some wanted to stare at you and silently judge. The beverages we got were quite nice and it was nice when we got our order to attract a bit more attention from the cats. Overall it was a great experience.

Really enjoyed my time here whilst visiting from Sydney. Staff really friendly. Would recommend visiting in the morning if you can get in :) love the range of merchandise for sale as well.

Dear Negative reviewers because cats weren't social, I don't know why anyone would bother going to a cat café if they don't know and understand cats... Cats are loved because they don't do what you want. In fact, they do what they want, when they want to. They will scratch you if they are angry, they will let you pet them if they like you, but they do not need to be anything for anyone. Next time you think about going to a cat cafe ask yourselves this, am I going here because I think animals are here for my entertainment? Or am i here because I have a deep love and respect for what these creatures bring to the world? If you are going for entertainment, you're already there for the wrong reasons. Cheers, Someone who works with cats at a shelter.

I read through some of the negative reviews and I wonder if I went to the same place as them. The reception was nice and the staff was friendly and the cats were well behaved if you were nice to them, meaning not being mean to them. While the food was lacking the drinks were nice and atmosphere amazing. I'll be going there again soon with my sister as well. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to be around cats 'mew'

This was a pretty disappointing experience for me.. I was really excited to go to the new cat cafe in Melbourne. We booked online the same day for the afternoon slot at 5pm and you pay a $12 entry fee per person for only 1 hour. When we got there, we arrived about 45 minutes early, the lady said she had to check if she could slot us in a little bit earlier.. she said that this was fine and then took us through the list of rules and the conditions of entry. She said to us that there was the cat lounge down stairs and the cafe was upstairs. Firstly we checked out the lounge down stairs, we walked in to a normal sized living room where there was a circle of people sitting on the floor.. a mixture of goths and alternative people and it had an awkward vibe where there was no music, bad lighting and no one spoke and there was about 3 cats in there. We then decided to move on up stairs, we had to then come back down stairs to order coffee because there was no staff upstairs. We received two cold bitter coffees in take away cups and pre packaged food. At the end I saw about 4-5 cats and then had to clean up after myself. This cafe needs better staff, music, and more CATS. 😒

Where to stay in Melbourne

The hub of tourist and commercial activity, the center of Melbourne remains the best place to stay if you're looking to splurge and enjoy every possible modern amenity during your visit. Travelers on a limited budget can search for cozy yet less expensive rooms in the seaside suburb of St Kilda or the bohemian neighborhood of Fitzroy. Though the city center offers more than a fair share of mid-range lodging options, you'll also find plenty of rooms in this price bracket in the quieter suburbs.
