Eagles Heritage Wildlife Centre, Margaret River
Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Don’t miss one of two daily free-flight displays of captive birds at Eagles Heritage Wildlife Centre, sheltering Australia’s largest collection of raptors and rehabilitating many birds of prey each year. More than 80 native species are protected at this location, including eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls. Housed in special aviaries, these birds live on 12 hectares (30 acres) of native bushland. The center also includes a so-called "breeding barn" for several endangered species. This area is continuously monitored by video cameras, which allow visitors a unique view into the world of rare birds. Make this sanctuary, slightly off the beaten tourist path, an educational and entertaining stop on your tour of the region.
