  • Google map took us up a road only fit for large 4x4's. It was a great route lucky I was in the right vehicle. A car wont go that way. The hike to the tunnel was nice. The tunnel was a football field's...  more »
  • There is a sign on the side of the road, a few Km's from Newnes (just a few Km's past the Wolgan Resort towards Newnes). The sign points over the road and across shallow creek crossing and up a steep ...  more »
  • We did this walk with a private guide whilst staying close by and loved it! The walk to the cave was amazing filled with some history of the area and then to end at the stunning caves was a real treat...  more »
  • Ita a fair drive (30km) from the highway, if you are careful you can drive in a sedan (we did in our Sports car but got many looks). It rained in the morning but it wasn't too bad to drive. About 50 mins there and just a little less back (we were less careful back). Stop by and take photos along the way. Glow worm Cave was stunning. Only waitomo in New Zealand was better. Ita a long trek from the car park and the tunnel you drive through before the car park was a little intimidating. Well worth the trip. Make sure you stop by Wild Woods gardens along the way
  • A nice , but desolate place, 40KM North of Lithgow , winding thru unpaved pothole filled road. Your mobile phone does not work. Carry sufficient food, water, warm clothing, good non slippery shoes, and an electric torch as well. Not to forget a trash bag . Camera a must, best time to visit is from 1000 to 1500. Do not over stay. You would be lucky to see Kangaroos and Kuala Restroom facilities are poor.
  • A great trip even in winter time. Beautiful remoted place and nature around. We have seen a parrots and kangaroos. Be prepared for a cold conditions (it was 6-8C in sunny day there) in August however is definitely worth it. I would definitely recommend to have a 4wd to get there. The Last section can be really muddy especially after a rainfall. Regarding the glow worms. We have seen some but not many. It was probably too cold for them. I can imagine in the summer time it would be many more of them probably.
  • A long 30km gravel road from Lithgow but normal cars without 4wd will able to do as well. Worth the drive up to the grow worm tunnel
  • Great day trip with the kids (5 and 7) have a 4x4 but drove it in 2wd. (EASY) Best advice, get there early. its cooler and there is parking. it a national park, so a Pit toilet is all you will get,. walk down to the caves was easy, give the kids a torch and have fun. Take water, and your time. its a beaut part of the world EXCELLENT day out for the whole family.
