Lilydale Falls, Lilydale

#8 of 14 in Parks in Launceston
Waterfall · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
An excursion to Lilydale Falls is all about the lush fern-filled scenery and the relaxing ambiance. A favorite picnic and camping spot, the falls are easily accessible by people of all ages and fitness levels. Follow a well-maintained, mainly flat track over a wooden bridge and down a staircase to the base of the first waterfall. The second, shorter but wider falls plunge into a large pool just a couple of minutes' walk away. Keep an eye open for the resident platypus. Bring a camera to capture the water meandering its way through large trees and shrubbery. Make Lilydale Falls a part of your Launceston vacation plans using our Launceston itinerary planner.

  • Brilliant place for a quiet walk to wind down. Good place to explore part of the old northeastern railway that's now disused. Waterfalls and surroundings are very nice.
  • Short walk and two good waterfalls. Picturesque!!! My two and half year old walked all the way without any problem.
  • Easy 10min walk to the waterfalls on a maintained track. Too close to the main road for ideal camping but it’s perfect for a daytime picnic with toilets nearby.
  • Beautiful spot with free one night camping, toilets, bins and BBQ facilities. 5 minute walk to the first waterfall and 10 to the second. As the walk is through the forest and along the stream it's nice and cool on a hot day.
  • Lovely 2 waterfalls. Good way to kill time. Free to camp overnight.
