Leuralla, Leura

(1.6/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Remember the lost joys of childhood with a stop at Leuralla, a toy and railway museum located in a historic house that was originally built for Harry Andreas, a prominent yachtsman and big-game fisherman. The toy and railway collection currently displayed on the property, which is owned by Andreas’s grandson, is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Stop by to see numerous displays of some of the 20th century’s most popular characters, such as Barbie, Popeye, Tintin, and Alice in Wonderland. The mansion-museum is nestled within verdant gardens, which feature interactive displays and several sculptures created by well-known local artists. • We were disappointed in our visit to Leuralla. Although the toy exhibition is vast there was no real information or history and it felt like the displays were all jumbled up. The gardens were lovely b...  more »
  • Blue Mountains tourism after the lunch time stopped. On the main street was lined accessory shop, souvenir shop, restaurant, etc. Sitting on a bench on the sidewalk near the intersection (roundabout), sandwiches and drinks to buy at the supermarket (Woolworths) restaurant was not crowded, so, I ate. Shade of a tree, just good. Super product assortment was great. Leura train station, from going on the road (bridge) directly steps down as is was, there was Opal card touch screen pillars.
