  • This is a cheap must $20 well spent. Gave us the feel to more. Lady was really friendly and views were on point.  more »
  • I recommend this to everyone who is visiting Launceston, after climbing up around the quarry face you are greeted by a lovely lass who secures you to the cable hang glider. You then run off the end of...  more »
  • Was there this morning. Owner ( and operator as well) was stationed at the top of the hill. Follow the foot path up and we were greeted by the friendly lady, Katherine. She was all smiles and gave us ...  more »

  • Please I am moving back to Tasmania and visited the site of Tasmanian Hang Gliding Association. Are they serious, would have to be the worst site I have ever encountered, being a visitor I have no way of negotiating the site. Have a look at the Queensland site at least you can negotiate around the site and gain contact with someone. If it is a member's site only how are you able to attract new members when your site is so obscure.
  • I have done a lot of google reviews in the last week, my wife even tells me, I can be a bit harsh in my scoring/critiques. I have not scored a 5 star yet in Tasmania........ Until now!!!!! Cable hang gliding, well worth the visit, well worth the experience. The lovely Catherine will calm your nerves, quiesce the situation, and send you flying merrily on your way ( she is especially good with kids, even as young as 5). Good value for money, price has not changed in the last ten years. Word of note, there is a 110 kg limit and this facility is closed on windy days. Take the climb to the top slowly, not suitable for wheelchairs If you only had one day available in Launceston, do this. Add this to your bucket list!!!!!!!
  • My personal experience not so good, I was too heavy so I was dragged along the ground, not fun at all, but I really should have paid attention to weight limit. The operator immediately refunded me and administered first aid and we hugged because she was really shook up, so ended well, but if you weigh more than 100 kilos DO NOT USE IT! Or use at own risk your choice :)
  • It was fun! The operator was encouraging and allayed any fears my 13 year had. My daughter had 2 great flights! Even though it its relatively quick ride - it is a great experience
  • It's cheap and lot of fun. Done it on both visits to Tasmania

Where to stay in Launceston

Many visitors to Launceston choose to settle into one of the area's spacious rental apartments, which offer large rooms and plenty of privacy. Equally comfortable, the city's centrally located four-star hotels include onsite restaurants and air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs and satellite channels. A less expensive alternative, Launceston's inns provide a convenient base for backpackers and causal travelers arriving without prior reservations. If you want something atmospheric and historical, look for guesthouses located in well-preserved Georgian and Victorian buildings.
