  • Run by Parks Victoria this is a little gem, tucked away on the edge of semi-rural township of Lara, just off the Melbourne-Geelong Freeway. It is small, which enhances its appeal. It has level pathway...  more »
  • Aussie flora and fauna in a wonderful setting... easy to get around and thoroughly enjoyable! I have returned many times and take visitors there as well.  more »
  • We arrived, a small group, on the spot where we awaited a local guide who let us in on the lawn. Could not see anything but suddenly from the tall grass have sprung up the kangaroos that look suspiciously have slowly drifted away. Then we went to see the koalas in the You Yangs Park but given time and warm (it was almost noon) you could see just how inboscati were among the branches of eucalyptus trees. The Park then has 50 km of trails for off-roaders on bike-cross.

  • Only a half day out if that, maybe a quarter day out. The lizards looked a bit depressed to be honest and some of the birds seemed a bit depressed. Welp, that's the world we live in I suppose. The spotted quolls are a sexy carnivorous marsupial I didn't know existed. Great to see but again, a bit of a downer seeing them in their tiny cage .
  • Pretty cool park where you can check if you can jump as high or as far as kangaroos. The open grassy woodlands and wetlands of the volcanic Western Plains make a pleasant walk. The animals are awesome too but I am unsure why they have to be kept in such a small enclosures. Can't kangaroos and wallabies be together in connected enclosures to make them bigger? They had no space to jump. If it was not free it would be less than 4 stars. Open up the I closures and get animals connected with each other! For lunch pack a picnic and make use of one of the many designated BBQ and picnic areas in the You Yangs or Serendip Sanctuary.
  • Very natural sanctuary and free to visit. Has got good picnic area amd barbeques.
  • Great place to spend a day with small children. To see wildlife in its natural environment and have a BBQ as well.
  • Great place to visit to see some rarer birds. The captive breeding collection is quite good and the local and migratory birds that visit can be abundant especially after good rains. There are picnic facilities with tables, electric BBQs and toilets near car park at entrance. Can do some bush walking in the larger Sanctuary area to the rear.
