  • Beautiful grassy, open location surrounded by trees. I camped there for 2 nights. There is 3 picnic tables, 1 with shelter, drop toilets are nearby. It is close to the dirt road that leads to Gap...  more »
  • We were staying near Kurri Kurri and explored the Watagans National Park for two glorious days. As long as you stay on the main forest roads the gravel roads are quite suitable for two wheel drives...  more »
  • Been to the Watagans a few times. It's a good day trip destination if you live in the Newy area. Plenty of bush walks of all levels Several free camping grounds and day areas and a few lookouts...  more »
  • We spent the afternoon exploring this wonderful piece of nature in our 4x4. we were lucky enough to see a lyrebird and several goannas plus many birds. this is a healthy rain forest just on our doorstep. access for both 4x4 and 2 wheel drive. Gravel roads , a bit bumpy in places but if you take your time (why would you want to rush through this anyway?) any car or bike would be ok. Pack a picnic and some drinks and get in there to enjoy.
  • Beautiful scenery but the trail to Gap Creek Falls is blocked off by a fallen tree
  • Camping within 30mins from Newcastle. Free, Quiet, great walks and views over the hunter valley. It is a state Forrest, so dogs and fires are both permitted. The 4x4 track goes right through the camp site, so can be a bit annoying and slight dangerous if they come through fast. No toilets or showers, so it’s the real camp experience Local mountain bike club, has a shuttle bus that drops them to the top, and drives without consideration for other road users, to the extent he locked his brakes on a down hill section and skidded, we then ran off the road and he just kept going.
  • Great walking trails with beautiful wildlife. Take plenty of water. Toilets at picnic areas and lookouts. Picnic tables and fireplaces in some areas.
  • Amazing place. Great scenery
