(4.5/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Join a morning cruise to Katherine Gorge, Nitmiluk National Park's main attraction, to see a pristine natural world teeming with wildlife. This gorge system has great ceremonial significance to the local Jawoyn people, who are custodians of the national park. There are many ways for you to experience this lush environment and its world-renowned gorge system. You can walk, swim, canoe, boat, or fly. Walks over the sandstone plateau range from one to five hours and offer unobstructed views of the unspoiled landscape. You can rent or bring your own canoe to the park, and helicopter flights can show you the park's wildlife from above. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles, which enter the Katherine River during the wet season. • This was part of an off-train package while travelling on the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin. Very interesting and informative trip up into the second gorge. Worth the visit.
  • We did a 30 minute helicopter tour over the 13 gorges plus 17 Mile Valley. Ben, our pilot, was fantastic, very knowledgeable and interesting and a great pilot. The front seat doesn't have a door which...  more »
  • While most people visit Nitmulik in the cool dry season, the wet has its own beauty. If you're lucky, you'll see some waterfalls flowing into the river or you might even get (heavily) rained upon. The...  more »

  • Very nice scenery with a lots of wildlife such as crocodiles and a variety of bird species. The guides of the boat tour are nice and informative and explain a lot of points in detail. However, the only problem I felt was that tour did seem a bit rushed at the end. Perhaps this was because time shortage. Also, taking pictures may be an annoyance as there are many people in the boat trying to take pictures as well.
  • I never been here before and I have been told many times to go here so luckily some friends came to visit from the south and we took a trip here we were on the 11am cruise and we have a lot of children on board but they were no issue. This trip is great if you are photographer, however I wish i had my own boat so i could slow down my photography, however I did get to take some great photos and also left with some ideas like and early morning cruise or a late one so i could capture some reflective landscape. Well worth a trip and have a gander at my pics so you know what u r going to see.
  • stunning scenery here! you can also canoe up the gorge as i did ! first three sections very touristy ! canoe beyond this and camp on the side of the gorge as I did ! absolutely fantastic! I would definitely go back ps check to see if you can still hire canoes overnight here and do it !
