  • you can see similar things all over the world, some better, some worse. But this is so close that you have no excuse not to go! well worth it if you are interested in these kinds of things  more »
  • A very interesting and beautiful arrangement of rocks - I have no idea how they came to be - one can only imagine!  more »
  • The rock formation is fascinating and offers a nice photo opportunity. It is worth but only when the sun shines. When it rains, and / or strong you should not go wind, because the visit is not entirely harmless.

  • A group of rocks, formed into unusual shapes, perched high on rugged cliffs, overlooking views of the ocean. A well laid out attraction, with signs of human intervention kept to a minimum. Facilities are basic, and this works well. Don't expect a gift shop or toilets that flush. Make sure you look under the rocks, many huge rocks are really just perched on a few square centimetres of support. Moody around sunset or sunrise.
  • Their name says it all. Did not realise how big they are until seen. Was heavily raining and strong winds while I was there and fortunately not at all slippery as expected. The red markings on these massive rock formations come from lichen. There is an easy boardwalk to get here. Near the car park is an authentic Aussie "longdrop" toilet.
  • More than just the rocks which are clearly seen from afar as you stroll down the boardwalk, we saw an echidna at the bushes at the base of the rocks, early sunset mid-March. They're so cute when they waddle & you can get very close! Also, blue fairy wrens hop around the carpark if you are quiet, close to dusk. I like that we can walk between the rocks & explore. Small kids should be carried as the winds are strong & no rails. You shouldn't spend more than half an hour here. Must see Admirals' Arch after. 15km from the National Park visitors' centre, I highly recommend you stay overnight at the Heritage Accommodation (search Mays Homestead on Flinders Chase National Park website - the booking form is hard to find but the stay was easy & so worth it for the animal sightings).
  • These rocks look like they're from another planet! The incredible shapes boggle the mind. They seem like nature could never make them! The surrounding scenery is also beautiful! The ocean is beautiful and the landscape is rolling and calm.
  • Feels very surreal as you walk here. You can't miss out on this when you are in KI!

Where to stay in Kangaroo Island

Although most of Kangaroo Island remains relatively underdeveloped in a commercial sense, you'll find lodgings that include everything from spacious suites to economical hostels in communities like Penneshaw and Kingscote. The most expensive accommodations on the island, private cottages and beach houses near the water generally require a two-night minimum stay. For something more flexible and less expensive, consider one of the local campgrounds, many of which offer powered and unpowered sites, as well as cozy log cabins ideal for couples and families with kids.
