Where to stay in Kangaroo Island

Although most of Kangaroo Island remains relatively underdeveloped in a commercial sense, you'll find lodgings that include everything from spacious suites to economical hostels in communities like Penneshaw and Kingscote. The most expensive accommodations on the island, private cottages and beach houses near the water generally require a two-night minimum stay. For something more flexible and less expensive, consider one of the local campgrounds, many of which offer powered and unpowered sites, as well as cozy log cabins ideal for couples andĀ families with kids.

  • Great for kids (big and small) seeing a dairy in action. Loved the cheese. It was a little pricey but unique and delicious! Definitely worth a visit!  more »

  • Interesting place. The tour - which shows you how the sheep are milked and the cheese is made - is very interesting, and you get to taste a number of the cheeses that they make, as well as other local produce. I'd recommend starting for lunch. They do yummy roast lamb or lamb sausage rolls. Delicious!
  • Really enjoyed the experience of seeing sheep being milked in the dairy and tasting the cheeses and yoghurt afterwards. I'd never tasted sheep's milk products before, but I'm a convert now. Staff were friendly and engaging.
  • Wasn't a huge fan of the cheeses. Didn't dislike them but just not my cup of tea
  • Excellent cheeses
