Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 130 reviews on the web
Featuring the only waterfall inside Kakadu National Park that flows even when there’s no rainfall, Maguk Gorge is part of a large World Heritage-listed area. A natural pool forms at the base of the steep gorge, with calm waters surrounded by lush native vegetation. This irresistible swimming spot attracts thousands of visitors each year, arriving here after an exciting climb up a rustic trail. Camping areas with basic toilet facilities, as well as picnic tables and barbecues, are available nearby. Adventurous travelers can also choose a 4WD tour in and around the area. Keep in mind that freshwater crocodiles often live in natural pools such as this one, and although they are usually shy around people, they should not be disturbed or approached.
