Monte Cristo Homestead, Junee
(3.1/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Famous for a number of alleged ghost sightings, Monte Cristo Homestead is a historic property constructed in 1885. This two-story Victorian house sits on a hill and offers panoramic views of the city. Originally owned by a local wealthy family, the property now operates as a museum, antiques store, and tourist attraction. Numerous reports of ghostly apparitions, strange lights, invisible force fields, and unexplainable sounds have given the house a reputation as one of the most haunted sites in Australia. Paranormal activity enthusiasts attribute strange happenings on the property to several tragic incidents that occurred over the years, including the murder of a caretaker in 1961. Enjoy an entertaining ghost tour at a house steeped in rich history and lore. Plan to visit Monte Cristo Homestead during your Junee vacation using our convenient Junee trip itinerary planner.

  • Great old house, beautifully restored over many years. Olive still lives there and greets the visitors. Sadly her husband died a couple of years ago. Many great rooms to visit and spectacular views of countryside. Some sad tales about maid. Supposedly haunted, has reputation of most haunted house in Australia. The ballroom is a pleasant surprise near the end of the tour.
  • An interesting visit. I personally did not feel much, only a throbbing feeling in the temples, in the first room to the left. My friend had many weird feelings. The history in this place is fascinating and depressing. A must visit for the area, if not for the ghosts, but for the history.
  • Stayed years ago but once I walk in with my son I had got a extremely hurting headache and my son was staying in Mr Crawley bedroom and said he was woken up by being shaken and then saw Mr Crawley standing in the door way. Truly creepy. Great service and wonderful food. Will go back next year or sooner I hope.
