#3 of 7 in Breweries in Tasmania
Try Tasmania’s best single malt whiskeys and fruit liqueurs at Lark Distillery. The first licensed distillery in Tasmania, this site has been in operation since 1839. It now operates as a bar, store, and distillery all under one roof. Free tastings of the distillery’s finest liqueurs and spirits are available daily, but for a small fee you can also test their three renowned types of whiskeys. The distillery specializes in producing liqueurs with a distinctive taste of pepperberry, which is native to eastern Australian rain forests. The staff know their topic well. They offer not only whisky, but their gin and rum as well as other Tasanian whiskies. They're not hard to find, an esay walk from the central shopping area and Salaman...  more »

  • A great cellar door and whisky bar operation, with a wide range of Tasmanian and Scotch whisky for tasting and purchase. Also very good coffee. There is a lounge area in which to relax and quietly sip. Also outdoor tables and chairs if the weather is fine. There is live music some nights. They can also arrange tours of their distillery operation at Cambridge, which is very interesting and highly recommended.
  • I've seen some comments complaining about the value of the tour. Couldn't disagree more (could have been on trip adviser, not here). The distillery tour was exceptional and we also really enjoyed the bar afterward. If you declined tastings of the variety of interesting and delicious drinks offered on tour, that's your own bloody fault. On top of that there's a free drink at the bar afterward and glass to take home too. What a treat! As a person who knew almost nothing about the distilling process, I wasn't at all made to feel like an idiot. The girl who took the tour was lovely, as well as the gent working the distillery and they were both very kind and informative making for a very educational day.
  • Would of given this place more stars but couldn't bring myself to do it. Cute cosy whisky bar! Great decor. Trying to sit here and enjoy my whisky tasting and there a 2 kids jumping on the couches, armchairs, tables and doing handstands while the mother is like ohhh how clever. Couldn't relax and enjoy my drinks - staff just let the kids do whatever!!
  • We did the distillery tour and it was amazing, the process to make the whisky was explained and we were shown each stage, would recommend to anyone. And there whisky also tastes great
  • Massive range of whisky for all style. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A cosy venue for a great night of whisky tasting
