Lark Distillery, Hobart

(4.3/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Try Tasmania’s best single malt whiskeys and fruit liqueurs at Lark Distillery. The first licensed distillery in Tasmania, this site has been in operation since 1839. It now operates as a bar, store, and distillery all under one roof. Free tastings of the distillery’s finest liqueurs and spirits are available daily, but for a small fee you can also test their three renowned types of whiskeys. The distillery specializes in producing liqueurs with a distinctive taste of pepperberry, which is native to eastern Australian rain forests. • Cool spot right in the city, old school venue with great atmosphere. Play a lot of blues, cozy big couches, & an amazing amount of Australian whiskey history. The whiskey was amazing too, definitely get the flights.
  • Awesome spot with great staff. Learned lots of things about whisky, gin, Tasmania, Scotland and stayed too long, enjoyed myself too much and forgot half of it. Still worth every penny just for what I remember learning
  • Great venue to try all the various Tasmanian whiskeys in one location. I tried the Lark tasting paddle which was a good place to start (mostly enjoyed the 43℅ whiskeys) and also the famed Sullivan's Cove. Bartenders were knowledgeable and attentive. Will come back again.
  • Great variety of whisky. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are always cheerful and happy to help. Great quiet place to catch up with friends.
  • Great whisky and g&t, friendly and knowledgeable staff and cosy room. Went back a couple of times!
