Leathersmith and Bush Gallery, Hahndorf

4.8
#3 of 12 in Shopping in Hahndorf
Established over 30 years ago by John and Jenny Graham, the Leathersmith and Bush Gallery is one of the longest trading and most iconic businesses on the Hahndorf Main Street. The family business is now managed by John and Jenny's son Sebastian, who is joined by Sam the leathersmith from Murray Bridge. The shop is unique in atmosphere, with hospitality that would be welcomed in the building’s origins as a simple pub. The warming fire, welcoming glass of port and a friendly smile make visitors feel at home and relaxed. Iconic: truly one of a kind.

  • We visited the Leathersmith to check out the leather belts. There were simply thousand and the choice became difficult. Reasonable value and helpful staff.  more »
  • What a terrific, quirky little shop! Quality hand made leathergoods, gifts, and all sorts of interesting goods. Oh, and don't miss the bunnies (yes, live ones) at the back of the shop. They also sell ...  more »

  • Awesome shop, unfortunately I think shops like this are a dying breed. Everything in this shop is Australian made so its nice to support local. Its great how they have put little poems or sayings down on rustic old bits of paper around the shop, very funny and its aussies down to a tee. Staff are very friendly as well as i am pretty sure its a family run business. So support local and lets keep shops like this open as there are not many left like them
  • The products we have bought from here are of fantastic quality. Its incredible just how many products are in this small shop - the variety in choices are endless.
  • Very happy customer. Purchased a Leather Foldable Hat 3 years ago. Still like new, no stretching and no shrinkage, fits like a glove. Perfect fit, same as the first day I bought it. Love it. Expensive at the time but one never regrets buying quality - the reverse of that "Poor man pays twice", on this occasion I'm glad I did the former. Very happy customer.
  • Supposed to be open 9am every day , rang Saturday told to come in sunday at 9 am no problems, left Gawler 7 am to get there 8. 45 to exchange my leather pouch , busy day ,10 am still nobody here , about 50 other people out side, why do you say you open at 9am when u dont, very pissed off as I cant get back now for a couple of months to exchange, will have problems then I'm sure, ,
  • Good supply of various products; belts, hats, shoes, etc. Shop layout a bit like a maze. Floors were all uneven and lumpy. Tripping hazard. Staff not that helpful, welcoming, or too friendly. There’s a rabbit hutch at the back of the shop with giant rabbits and a bit of info about them. Bred for their skins :( The rabbits were very cute, even the big ones :) Not a fan of this place.
