  • The gardens are easily accessible with a visit to Mount Lofty. There are two main entrances one at the top of the gardens, and one at the bottom of the gardens. We used the top entrance which gave us ...  more »

  • This is an enchanting spot in Adelaide. You can visit this place throughout the year and it is always nice. Every season has its own beauty. Plenty of spots to picnic, you find amazing trees all around giving you pleasant shade to spend time chatting, reading or eating with your friends and family. Car park and toilets available too.
  • We visit the gardens a few times a year, particularly in Autumn to catch the beautiful autumn colours. Spring this year was also a wonderful time to visit - everything so green. It's a tranquil place and very refreshing to spend time here. We usually enter via the lower entrance as this gives easy walks and lovely views. There are more challenging gully walks if you are able (not for the frail). All in all... A beautiful place to visit, away from the city. Highly recommended.
  • Beautiful place, requires at least 4 hours to fully appreciate it all. Very tranquil. Parking costs $4 but entry to the gardens is free, so it works out very cheap entertainment. If you're fat and unfit don't bother, you will have a heart attack and maybe die, there's a lot of steep uphill walking to do in order to see everything. Bring your camera, you'll want photos to take home (phone camera won't do it justice, bring a real camera). Make this desitination a trip of it's own, I'd advise not trying to fit too much else into the day, and if you do, don't put the gardens down the list, you won't have time. Also wouldn't recommend this as a destination to bring kids. Adelaide Botanic Gardens are better for kids than this. Overall incredible place, and remember: fatties stay away.
  • I strongly recommend the lower entrance rather than the upper, unless you're looking for a significant hike. The hills are incredibly steep, and many of the paths are unpaved. Stunningly beautiful from both directions though. The Rhododendron gully is amazing in spring.
  • cold during winter and don't expect flowers out of season. catch them in spring or fall and you could catch the leaves changing colors and flowers blooming. if you were from Mt Lofty, you can reuse the parking ticket so that is a bonus. also catch the free guide that will bring you on a walking tour around the garden. awesome!
