Sanctuary Cove is a gated community, in the suburb of Hope Island in the Gold Coast area of Queensland, Australia. It was the first of such developments in Australia and is notable for its impact in planning legislation in Queensland which had to be altered to allow it to proceed, due to the privatisation of such large areas of urban land. It covers an area of 474 hectares south of the Coomera River close to its mouth. To the east of Sanctuary Cove is Coomera Island.Sanctuary Cove provides a completely self-contained residential environment with its own shopping centre and entertainment facilities, with the addition of many of the facilities of a holiday resort, such as boating marinas and golf courses. Sanctuary Cove continues to grow as remaining land is developed. It is home to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show which has been held annually since 1988.HistoryThe property was developed by Mike Gore and launched in 1986. In 1992, Gore fled the country, leaving the development in receivership for many years to come. The property was bought by Mulpha Australia Limited in 2002. On 9 April 2010 a new golf clubhouse was launched.ResortInterContinental owns the luxury hotel at Sanctuary Cove. The resort was previously called the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove as was managed by Hyatt. In late 2012, management was taken over by Mulpha. It contains 247 rooms.

  • Picturesque oasis in a remote corner of Hope Island, Gold Coast. Fantastic selection of up-market shops & restaurants. Great Hotel nearby, Intercontinental with spectacular poolside area.
  • Luxurious place to visit. Beautiful Marina with all the top notch vessels, high end retail stores. good quality dining options.
  • Sanctuary Cove is a fantastic place to visit, to dine, to see all the "Gold Coast" fashion styles as opposed to what you would see in Brisbane stores. Dream about the good life as you view the super yachts beyond a mere mortal"s reach. Wonderful people there, beautiful gardens everywhere you go.
  • Visiting friends in the Santuary Cove area for the day. Had an amazing day with such great gardens and amminities. Had a nice walk around shops. What a great way to spend a day.
  • Excellent resort. I stayed for a conference for 2 days and service is outstanding. Rooms are huge and the pool, the beach pool and spa are awesome. You can also see kangaroos hanging around the premises.
