Fremantle Arts Centre
Built by convict labor and opened as a psychiatric hospital called "Asylum for the Criminally Insane," Fremantle Arts Centre is known nowadays as a thriving creative space. The center attracts over 3,000 people to its outdoor concerts and almost as many to its exhibits and other art events throughout the year. Visit the galleries to see the latest trends in contemporary art. Inside you'll also find the offices for the Fremantles Art Center Press, a publishing house that puts award-winning authors to press. Plan to see Fremantle Arts Centre and other attractions that appeal to you using our Fremantle trip site.

All kinds of art here in the former spooky asylum . The gift shop, Found, is full of locally crafted treasures. There is often a display of art to see and the variety of art classes changes... more »

Tricky to rate because it's a lovely complex, beautifully restored, but a bit haphazard as far as letting visitors know what there is without having to constantly ask. That is, signage isn't the... more »

Having been an asylum, a Naval barracks, a technical school and now an arts centre, this historic Gothic Fremantle icon is well worth a visit. After browsing the art exhibitions, the courtyard cafe... more »

Lovely outside area. Could be great if they had a few toys/playground for children considering that most of the people going there are mums with bubs. It's a great space inside too but the expositions need improvement. I always find them a bit disappointing. There's a lovely cafe.

Enjoy visiting this facility the art gallery, the cafe and the shop that is also like walking in a gallery. The building itself is amazing. Very relaxing and parking off the street near the entrance is convenient. I have done some of the art courses and taken my child there during school holidays when young and they all have been great.

Very nice facility. Nice outdoor area for coffee and letting kids play. Could use a few more exhibits - maybe outside to fascinate young children?

I've went with my 3 and 5yo kids. They really enjoyed everything. It's simple and yet enough interactive to capture they interest. Then we sat down at the cafe and everything was so good. The popsicles were amazingly yummy. Service was great. We really had a lovely day.

A place of great history and heritage. Beautiful grounds. Lush and leafy. Fantastic venue for music and art exhibitions
