Create an itinerary including Lake McKenzie
The jewel of Fraser Island is Lake McKenzie, famous for its crystal blue waters and white sands. The area surrounding the lake is the most popular tourist attraction on the island, so it can get crowded during the middle of the day in peak season. The sands around the lake are composed of white silica, and the lake's purity makes it unsuitable for most species. You can swim in this clean water, relax on the sandy beach, or explore the forest surrounding it. A camping area and a picnic area are nearby, along with barbecues. Near the lake is a popular bush trail, where you can see giant fern trees. Lake McKenzie is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

  • The most beautiful place on earth, you cannot take a bad picture here and no filter required. Even though it was pretty packed the day we went it was still a magical experience and I can't wait to go....  more

  • Such an amazing place. The water is crystal clear and so clean. It’s like swimming in a pool but without the chemicals in it. You’re not allowed to eat on the beaches but there are designated fenced picnic areas at the parking area. Also toilets which is wheelchair accessible. Only downside is that it’s very busy with tour buses and the road to get there is not in a good condition. Put this on your to do list!
  • Unforgettable place! Blue transparent water and pristine sand beaches pure like I have never seen before. Plus the place is protected from any human activity.
  • Great place to visit sparkling clear weter
  • Beautiful spot and a great way to cool down on a hot day.
  • Have always loved this place. The best lake i have ever been to hands down. Best time to go so its quiet is in the early morning or late afternoon otherwise you will struggle to get a park and some real estate on the beach! Eli creek was also just as epic
