Lake McKenzie, Fraser Island

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web
The jewel of Fraser Island is Lake McKenzie, famous for its crystal blue waters and white sands. The area surrounding the lake is the most popular tourist attraction on the island, so it can get crowded during the middle of the day in peak season. The sands around the lake are composed of white silica, and the lake's purity makes it unsuitable for most species. You can swim in this clean water, relax on the sandy beach, or explore the forest surrounding it. A camping area and a picnic area are nearby, along with barbecues. Near the lake is a popular bush trail, where you can see giant fern trees. Take a look at our Fraser Island vacation builder to schedule your visit to Lake McKenzie and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.
