Esperance Stone Henge, Esperance
Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Constructed of giant blocks, some of which weigh more than 50 tons (100,000 lbs), Esperance Stone Henge is the only astronomically-aligned, full-scale, exact replica of the original Stonehenge in England. Built of pink granite, a local material, the structure was designed to look precisely like the original would have appeared around 2000 BCE. Initially meant to be erected in Margaret River, this stone replica is located near the region’s prized Twilight Beach, in itself a popular tourist attraction. The structure is visible from the road, but set aside some time for a leisurely visit and a unique photo opportunity. Use our Esperance itinerary maker to add Esperance Stone Henge and other attractions to your Esperance vacation plans.
