  • The volunteers have done an amazing job with maintaining the arboretum. The variety of plants and trees was great to see, and the future is looking better. My only criticism is that the size of the ar...  more »
  • This Arboretum is not far out of Devonport but a good map is needed. It is a gem of much hard work put in by volunteers. The walks around the various continents' specimens of trees are a delight. Ther...  more »
  • What a lovely stroll! Not lavish but encourages quiet appreciation of nature while adding touches of information through labelling of trees etc. Didn't see any platypus but didn't expect to at midday ...  more »

  • My husband and I are returning from a month of travel in Tasmania. We were fortunate that another visitor mentioned the Tasmanian Arboretum as it was not listed in any of the travel guides I read. It is a lovely tree filled arboretum with a centrally located pond which is inhabited with platypus. A blind on the bank allows one to observe these very unusual creatures which we were able to do. Plus there is a small cafe on site where tea and scones can be enjoyed on a rainy day if desired. We were well tended to by the caretaker who also staffs the cafe. This is an undiscovered gem and well worth a visit.
  • Beautiful peaceful walking tracks with an abundance of flora and fauna. Many photo opportunities and the bonus of a platypus and bird hide on Founders Lake. We snapped a number of birds and a platypus. After enjoying the sun we retreated to the shade of The Tree Park Kiosk and enjoyed the best homemade ice cream I have had in a very long time. Scones, sandwiches, tea and coffee also on offer at reasonable rates. If self sufficient a number of picnic tables and grassed areas to enjoy a picnic lunch. Entry fee only $5/adult and well worth it.
  • A gem. For anyone not to be enchanted or appreciative of this treasure made up of many hours of hard work, its surviving longevity, excellent volunteers and wonderful bonus days such as bird tours etc, they would need to be asleep. Thank you for your contribution to trees, earth, wildlife and nature Tassie Arboretum! I will visit often. (Swans, platypus, ducks and little red-bottomed birds, not to mention the Don River. What's not to like.)
  • Lots of platypus in the lake today! Great spot!
  • Great for walks through trees, good coffee at kiosk.
