Wave Lagoon, Darwin

(4.4/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
When stinging jellyfish populate the waters around Darwin, head for Wave Lagoon. Free of stingers and crocodiles, this wave-pool and swimming lagoon provide a safe place to cool off in the heat. The lagoon reaches a maximum depth of 2 m (6.5 ft), and the waves in the wave-pool climb to 1.7 m (5.6 ft). Catch the waves that suit you; wave intensity varies throughout each cycle. The wet season brings frequent storms from October to May, and lifeguards move visitors to sheltered areas when thunder and lighting are imminent. Leave extra time to wait for the usually brief outbursts to pass if you visit during this period. Make Wave Lagoon part of your personalized Darwin itinerary using our Darwin vacation generator.

  • Great fun for young and old. If you like being thrown around on a doughnut :)
  • $7 adult entry that allows you to go in and out throughout the day. Sunbeds around the pool. Must get there relatively early in the day though as there isn't that many. They also have free to use rubber rings and body boards for the waves. Really enjoyed my afternoon here and at the Darwin water front.
  • Didn't get to go in, but seems like a lovely public swimming pool. Wave lagoon is a great idea!
  • Great spot to cool off and relax. Kids love it
  • Fun experience, although it is rather hot during the afternoon without any shades.
