  • A lovely way to enjoy a Sunday morning, sipping a cool fruit drink and gathering provisions for later (laksa!). Felt very local. Get there early to beat the crowds and just wander...  more »
  • The market consists of a few stalls selling trinkets of Indonesian, Asian, hippy clothes. You've already traveled it in 14 minutes and not worth it at all.

  • Great little market , heaps of food choices. Only disappointment was the area surrounding the market was filthy with rubbish everywhere.  more »

  • Another one of Darwin's lovely morning markets. This one has a nice atmosphere because of a bit of live music while having a selection of handicraft, clothes and other house wares etc. Taking place on a Sunday morning where just 6-8mins away is also the Rapid Creek market, both are different enough to warrant a visit to both on a single Sunday morning.
  • It is authentically local, egalitarian and friendly with a cross section of the population there. It is small but diverse and very child friendly with a much loved playground for little people. Many people meet there for breakfast as the coffee is good and the crêpes famous, lots of Asian food and icey fruit drinks. There are a diversity of stalls selling plants, produce, clothing, international food, pre-loved books, music discs, and brick-a-brack. It offers entertainment and a very casual, relaxed atmosphere.
  • A great morning at the markets. Lovely food. Great atmosphere
  • Excellent all-rounder markets for eating and people watching. LOL!
  • Eclectic mix of food, plants, clothes and trinkets. Lots of locals mixed in with the tourists, a real institution.

Where to stay in Darwin

A small but distinctly cosmopolitan city, Darwin offers a surprisingly diverse range of lodgings, with most hotels located in or near the central business district. Despite this, finding a comfortable room during the peak May-to-September season can be extremely difficult, especially if you don't book ahead of your visit. If planning months in advance isn't an option, consider staying at a backpacker hostel or guesthouse outside the city center. Many of these smaller establishments offer access to free Wi-Fi and outdoor swimming pools.
