Great spot to unpack your picnic lunch in the shade, then have a swim and relax before moving on to your next stop. About an hour from Darwin city.  more »

Great spot to cool off about 40 mins from Darwin. Bring floaties and noodles, or hire noodles there. Underwater reef shoes are handy too.  more »

This is such a great swimming hole close to darwin. I'd rate it over Litchfield park. Like everything, try to go midweek as it can get crazy busy in the weekends. The top pool is best for family's wit...  more »

  • Proximity to Darwin beautiful clear swimming water.
  • Great place to stop for a swim before or after visiting Litchfield NP take the circle route through LNP either direction is fine
  • It's quite a nice place but it really gets crowded. Public toilets are not enough for the amount of people and not as clean as you expect. I'm also highly recommend using of insects repellent.
  • Fantastic swimming spot under an hour drive from Darwin. Peaceful swimming holes connected by streams with overhanging pandanus trees and a small waterfall. You can see fish swimming in the water if you wear goggles. There's a grassed area with picnic tables, BBQs and nearby toilets. Check signage for closures for swimming.
  • Brilliant, cant fault it, nice, spacious and a clean place to swim, BBQ and hangout for the family

Where to stay in Darwin

A small but distinctly cosmopolitan city, Darwin offers a surprisingly diverse range of lodgings, with most hotels located in or near the central business district. Despite this, finding a comfortable room during the peak May-to-September season can be extremely difficult, especially if you don't book ahead of your visit. If planning months in advance isn't an option, consider staying at a backpacker hostel or guesthouse outside the city center. Many of these smaller establishments offer access to free Wi-Fi and outdoor swimming pools.
