Australian Aviation Heritage Centre, Darwin
(4.5/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Visit the Australian Aviation Heritage Centre to learn about Australia's colorful history in flight. See 19 aircraft on display, including a B-25 Mitchell Bomber, Mirage and Sabre jet fighters, and an Australian Navy Wessex helicopter that helped clean up Darwin after Cyclone Tracy hit on Christmas in 1974. The 38 displays include videos of the bombing of Darwin in World War II and a depiction of pioneers Ross and Keith Smith in flight in 1919. Bring drinking water with you if the weather's warm because it can become quite hot inside the hangar. • Can't believe that they got a full sized B52 bomber into the hanger, it is worth a visit just for that, but there is much more to see especially if you are interested in aircraft.
  • I dropped in to have a look & fill in an hour. i left 3 hours later amazed at the exhibitions & had my eyes opened to the History of Darwin
  • Being the first time in Australia, not knowing much about Darwin's "aviation" history, this place is really worth visiting. No air conditioning, but the aircrafts you see is impressive. The B52 is rea...  more »

  • Impressive from the moment you drive in to the moment you drive out. The only B-52 in Australia, what's not to love? I also liked the F-111 and the Cobra.
  • Very impressive from the moment you drive up until you leave. I loved the huge radars and crashed Mirage outside. Inside the only B-52 on display in the entire Southern Hemisphere dominates the hangar. Also impressive were the F-86 Sabre, F-111 and Cobra.
  • Enjoyed all of the displays. Well presented lay out with lots to read and learn. The highlight for me was the Mirage and F111 as dad used to service the safety equipment on these planes. Well done team.
  • If you are wondering weather to go or not- Definitely GO!
  • Check out a real B52 and a real F111. Fantastic
