Grassy Hill, Cooktown

(4.8/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
From the top of Grassy Hill, enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Cooktown, Endeavor River, and the Coral Sea. You can reach the lookout by a spiral path or steep steps leading to the summit. Captain Cook climbed this hill to figure out a safe way to sail out through the reef. If you want to go for a swim, descend by another walking path to Cherry Tree Bay beach. • Fantastic breeze, beautiful views 360 degrees. Was there today, 10 June 2016. The 246th anniversary of the day Capt Cook's ship, the Endeavour hit the coral reef.
  • Awesome views and good information panels
  • Captain James Cook climbed this hill in 1770 to plot a course through the Great Barrier Reef. A fantastic view of the river named after his 368 ton ship the H.M.S. Endevour. And a great view our to sea. Recommend "SacredHill" Shiraz Cabernet to go with the short climb. Bonne appetite!
  • The views are just amazing. Just don't wear a hat as it is always windy.
  • Nice spot
