Explore how miners lived and worked during the opal mining times in early 1900s. As you walk through the cave and tunnels at Old Timers Mine, you will see old pick marks and even streaks of opal that have been left in the rocks. You can visit an underground house used by the miners that now displays a collection of opals and various artifacts from the mine's history. Outside, try your hand at the old manufacturing process with an interactive session using a pipe to filter the stones. The gift shop features polished opals and jewelry. • This was such a cool place, my partner and I really enjoyed it and we learned heaps. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There are opals for sale at all prices and good souvenirs. I now know what noodling is and what those trucks with the hoppers on are. Well worth visiting in my opinion.
  • Great fellas running the place, was able to accommodate our dog in the dog corner Most places would not even offer that service! Blokes knew pretty much everything about opals and answered all our questions in detail! Mine was interesting and had lots of detail, one could easily spend a few hours here and not notice, and the prices are very reasonable too!
  • Great walking underground in un-used mine & home.
  • Well worth the visit, if you do one mine trip this is the one
  • Great educational experience. We loved it! (The Air-Con/Underground-Ness definelty helped with the heat 😂 lol!)
