  • Stop and get a photo by all means, but if you want to get a half decent meal without breaking the bank - stop in town for it. Tourist trap for sure !!!  more »
  • We arrived early before any of the rides opened so we headed to the candy store to watch how they make the candy. It was fantastic. The candy making experts really knew their stuff and they interacted...  more »

  • We went to The Big Banana looking forward to seeing the opal shop as gemstones are a family interest. We took our 10 year old daughter, who is very mature & well behaved into the opal shop. As we entered we felt very unwelcome by the old lady who was working there. I over heard her telling off an adult customer, asking her not to touch the agate geodes on display. My husband & I tried our best to ignore her and enjoy the opals until she was aggressive & rude to our daughter. Our daughter was only looking in the display cases at the opals, I was right next to her pointing out the stones when the woman approached and asked my daughter in a very rude way if she could read, there was a sign saying not to lean on the display counter, my daughter read the sign but as she wasn't leaning on the counter she didn't think she was doing anything wrong. My daughter has anxiety and is very well behaved due to a fear of being told off. Getting in trouble from a stranger for doing nothing wrong was too much for her to bear so we left the store and subsequently The Big Banana. The rude woman in the opal shop ruined the whole visit. I don't understand why someone who obviously dislikes children would open a shop or work at a children's tourist attraction. She is ruining the reputation of The Big Banana.
  • Not as great as I remember it from my childhood. It's still great for kids today, but adults will find it dull. It's really no longer about bananas anymore but rather an attraction to a larger "fun park" that the complex is now. In fact, the whole notion of bananas seem to have taken a back seat to everything else now, as evidenced by the fact the plantation is extremely small now - it no longer covers the entire hill. There are now satellite attractions that apparently attract more attention than the Big Banana itself: a laser tag building, a small ice skating rink, a small water park with slides, and a very large and long slippery slide for both adults and kids which according to staff is the most popular year round attraction. The souvenir shop is disappointing with a number of basic banana themed, or labelled objects such as hats, toys and bottle openers, but there's also a lot of other stuff that has nothing to do with bananas such as police car models and the like.
  • A really fun day out. The kids loved the slides and ice skating. Laser Tag is huge and awesome. Coffee needs work.
  • I really enjoyed the food and the banana tour the day was going great till we went to the Opal shop and was going to buy some Opal stones but the lady was on her cellphone on a very personal call walking around the shop while we waited. It was obvious we wanted service but she ignored us We walked out in the end. Very unprofessional.
  • Always fun. Great for a drop in when driving through Coffs. Also a good venue to take the family for a few hours doing the tour and spending time in the park with rides and other facilities. Plenty of free parking provided. Novelty and food shops on site. Can also buy Coffs bananas :)
