  • Just okay because service was zero. Always waiting to find anyone while there & at the reception. The mobile phone for the reception, reception itself, everywhere was mainly unattended. It's hence possible for anybody to walk straight in without anyone knowing- a worry for security or lack of guest confidence for safety. Lights all over the place were turned off for some reason even with guests there, at least while we were there. The house itself is interesting though, some areas sorely need better maintenance or upkeep, like outside. The potential of the whole place, the good cleanliness of our room, heaters & everything worked in our room, is what gives this a higher 3 stars.
  • Had the most wonderful Sunday afternoon Touring Claremont House. Joel, the custodian/owner/restorer/enthusiastic historian and entertaining tour guide, hosts an informative afternoon tea. The food was delicious and abundant, there was so much to choose from that there was plenty left over on the buffet table even though everyone had well and truly had their fill. The historic description of Claremont House is presented in the most entertainingly informative way that you can almost feel the history oozing from the walls. The tour reminds us of the past history of the grand old mansion as well as the limitations bestowed upon the current custodian in terms of archaeological and heritage regulations. The Widows Walk Tower has the most amazing 360 degree views in the district and includes Mount Wellington, Mount Faulkner, Granton and The Bowen Bridge over The Derwent River. The boutique accommodation suites, with spas and sauna, look amazingly comfortable while remaining true to the heritage of the building. I thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon at the grand old Homestead steeped in history and will highly recommend the experience to all my friends.
  • Best ever
