Metricon Stadium, Carrara

(4.2/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
Cheer for the Gold Coast Football Club (nicknamed the Suns) at Metricon Stadium, which has the capacity to receive over 25,000 sports fans and is scheduled to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This popular sports venue, originally opened in 1987, underwent a massive redevelopment in recent years, and hosted the first Gold Coast Suns game at the reconstructed stadium in May of 2011. The improved venue now hosts regular concerts and other special events, and is set for further upgrades, which will allow it to hold up to 40,000 visitors. The stadium is easily accessible from almost anywhere in town, with special shuttle buses running on match and event days. • With no ability to park nearby, park at the local station and catch a shuttle to the stadium. Had to stand in line for 30 plus minutes just to get on a shuttle. Only serve mid strength beer which they charge close to 10 dollars for is disgraceful. Only good part about attending this stadium is the football. Thankfully they couldn't ruin that.
  • Saw an AFL game there and had a great time! Not sure why everyone stands behind the barrier instead if sitting? Fun!
  • Very modern plenty of room to move around inside. Football field in great shape.
  • Amazing Stadium, one of the best I've been to... But the parking! You would think a purpose built stadium would have thought this through, but no. Have been here multiple times for AFL games and parking has never been great. Long walk, through rain and mud. Today at AFLW Grand Final was horrendous. Made the drive from bris through traffic which was fine, but then to spend 25 mins searching for somewhere to park and then walking 20 mins. Half the crowd got to the game at least 20 mins after the bounce, appalling. I don't mind paying, but sort it out please!
  • Tickets way too expensive, food and drink way too expensive. If they want to get decent crowds there they need to make going to the football more affordable.
