Tourist Spot Arena / Stadium
Cheer for the Gold Coast Football Club (nicknamed the Suns) at Metricon Stadium, which has the capacity to receive over 25,000 sports fans and is scheduled to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This popular sports venue, originally opened in 1987, underwent a massive redevelopment in recent years, and hosted the first Gold Coast Suns game at the reconstructed stadium in May of 2011. The improved venue now hosts regular concerts and other special events, and is set for further upgrades, which will allow it to hold up to 40,000 visitors. The stadium is easily accessible from almost anywhere in town, with special shuttle buses running on match and event days. • Great viewing from every seat. Heaps of food stalls and toilet amenities, parking around the stadium.  more »

  • I had my first opportunity to visit Metricon Stadium to watch the Suns play West Coast Eagles. The ground is well set out with plenty of access to amenities. On game day I rang the stadium office to inquire about parking and was informed there is no public parking available. Though free public trains and busses were available. This was not convenient for our situation so after 30 minutes trying to find a park we were directed to school 3kms from the stadium that offered $10 parking and a return bus trip to a drop off point across the road from the stadium.
  • What a dud experience. Parked 2km away from ground, still got a hefty parking fine. Don't bother with General Admission tickets, seemed like there were only 7 General Admission seats even though 70% of the stadium unoccupied. Great Toilets and the service area was well laid out though.
  • Great small stadium. Breeze blows through in the warmer months and the view is good from almost any seat.
  • With no ability to park nearby, park at the local station and catch a shuttle to the stadium. Had to stand in line for 30 plus minutes just to get on a shuttle. Only serve mid strength beer which they charge close to 10 dollars for is disgraceful. Only good part about attending this stadium is the football. Thankfully they couldn't ruin that.
  • Fantastic family stadium. Great venue. Awesome night out at the footy😁
