  • Very rewarding activity for the young and the old. Tour with a guide to see the making of the Australian currency. And you can even make your own coin.

  • A very nice tourist’s attraction if you’re within the area. I would recommend the public tour as there are some interesting information you can get. It’s also the easy way to see navigate the mint for the first time. Can spend around an hour or two in here.
  • Parking here was easy. The guided tour was very interesting in the first half talking about history, then 2nd half (optional) become very technical and dry for kids, so they just went to do their own stuffs. Making your own $1 coin for $3 is quite interesting to see how your money depreciate. ;) Overall a good experience.
  • A must see place in Canberra. Check out the timings for the free guided tour. The guides are great. Very interesting facts about minting process and numismatics. A great way to get kids interested as a hobby,
  • Great educational place. Staff was very friendly. Lots of interesting things to learn how the currency is made in Australia. Buy and make your own coins. Great experience for kids.
  • One of the smallest museums/walkthroughs I've ever seen, but the displays are well made and you get a completely naked view of the whole facility, which is great. A good concise history of Australia's coinage history, from the first coins found on the Australian subcontinent to the present day and commemorative coins, short enough for the whole family to enjoy

To stay comfortably near most main attractions in Canberra, choose a hotel in the city's central district. If you're a bit more budget-minded, look for a guesthouse in a neighborhood farther away from the city center.
