Australian National Botanic Gardens, Canberra
(4.5/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Explore the many paths at Australian National Botanic Gardens. They will take you through the national collection of Australian native plants, including banksias, grevillias, and callistemons. The main loop is about 1.5 km (0.9 mi) of mostly flat terrain and well-marked paths. The glasshouse features ferns and pitcher plants, while the treetop walk and gully boardwalk showcase the colors and sounds of the rainforest. Birdlife is abundant (honeyeaters, wattlebirds, and even a Satin bowerbird). It is not uncommon to also see wallabies and echidna bumbling about and lizards sunbathing on rocks. • Its good timing to visit this when Floriade last week of Sept to October. Youll enjoy the spring festival with imported flowers grown locally.
  • Huge walking trails. Highly recommend the Blakc Mountain summit however be prepared - it is quite a hike not for the faint hearted. Take water and something to eat.

  • Really beautiful flowers and trees. It was all so tranquil and the ambiance was just perfect. We also saw a lot of water dragons and a big blue tongue lizard, causing the gardens to be one of the highlights of our trip to Canberra
  • Full of kangaroos and joeys. It possess an incredible variety of nature, from rain forest to arid environments. You can spend hours there just contemplating the beauty of the place, that are seen in all small details. A great place to bring the kids or for a romantic walk.
  • The botanical gardens is a place you should go to if you're visiting Canberra. Even if you aren't interested in plants it's a really nice place to be in and around. Though, eat before you go, the cafe there is a bit expensive
  • Great gardens! So beautiful ....but Floresco Restaurant was lacking in communication between waitstaff and kitchen staff - And coffee!!?? I asked for a "long black" and got a coffee WITH MILK!! Thankfully my allergies arent too serious.
  • Lovely dense wooded botanic gardens as a good contrast to the more open gardens of the coastal cities. Nice rainforest walkways, helpful staff, and a good way to get to the mountain walk.
